Business is at its best when it gives back.
The CBM Foundation is Capital Business Media’s commitment to the communities we report on and work within in London, New York and Florida. Built on the 1-1-1 model pioneered by the Salesforce Foundation, we pledge one per cent of the group's time, product and profit to charitable causes, every year.
Time
1% of staff paid time dedicated to charitable activity, giving every member of the CBM team the chance to contribute.
Product
1% of our product, media reach, event platforms and publishing expertise, donated to charitable causes.
Profit
1% of profit given to charity each year, directed to causes focused on opportunity, education and community resilience.
Three causes, one belief: potential is everywhere.
Through the Foundation, CBM backs organisations and programmes where a business group's time, platforms and funding can genuinely move the needle.
Opportunity
Opening doors for people and places too often left out of enterprise, from first jobs to first businesses.
Education
Supporting learning, skills and mentoring, because knowledge is the most durable investment a business can make.
Community resilience
Strengthening the local and rural communities where businesses live, trade and depend on one another.
Racing to beat dementia, together.
For 2026/27, The CBM Foundation is proud to name Race Against Dementia as our corporate charity partner. Founded by three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE following his wife Lady Helen's diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, the charity funds pioneering early-career researchers around the world, applying the speed, precision and relentless innovation of a Formula 1 team to the race for a breakthrough in the prevention and cure of dementia.
The partnership spans all of CBM's output, including our Travelling for Business Awards and Rural Business Awards in 2026, and extends across the full expanded CBM live events programme from 2027 onwards.
Where you'll see it
2026. Across all of CBM's output, including the Travelling for Business Awards & the Rural Business Awards, with fundraising and awareness woven throughout.
2027 onwards. The full expanded CBM live events programme, group-wide.
See the partnership →Having family members and colleagues in the wider company family suffer from this horrid disease, and given our work within the ‘F1 circus’, supporting Sir Jackie was an obvious choice. He is right. Maybe the precision F1 creates can beat this.”Richard AlvinFounder, Capital Business Media
A model we've believed in for over a decade.
CBM founder Richard Alvin has been personally connected to the 1-1-1 model since its early days, as part of the Salesforce Foundation community in 2011. The CBM Foundation carries that same conviction forward.
Roots in the Salesforce Foundation community
Speaking at an early Dreamforce, Richard Alvin spends time with Marc Benioff and Bill Clinton and joins the community around the Salesforce Foundation, the pioneers of the 1-1-1 model, seeing first-hand how integrated giving can shape a company's culture.
Giving woven into how the group operates
CBM and Richard Alvin support a steady stream of charitable causes, including a £20,000 personal donation during lockdown to BBC Local Radio's Give a Laptop scheme, putting new laptops into around 50 households in east London so vulnerable young people didn't fall behind with their learning.
1-1-1 becomes central to how CBM operates
The group formally commits one per cent of its time, product and profit to charitable causes each year, focused on opportunity, education and community resilience.
Race Against Dementia named charity partner
The Foundation announces Race Against Dementia as corporate charity partner for 2026/27, launching across the Travelling for Business Awards and the Rural Business Awards.
The full live events programme
The partnership expands across CBM's full live events programme, putting purpose on stage at every event the group runs.
1% of staff paid time. 1% of our product. 1% of profit given to charity. It's a small number that adds up to something much bigger.
